No Doubt
No Doubt is one of my all time favorite bands. Gwen Stefani is such a bad ass. I really like how their album 'Tragic Kingdom' was written mainly by Gwen Stefani and were about her experiences in life.
Norah Jones
Whenever I was younger and we lived at my old house, I would wake up almost every sunday to my mom playing a Norah Jones album. My favorite album of hers is 'Come Away With Me'. I recently started listening to it again. Her voice reminds me a lot of Feist and Cat Powers'.
My favorite song off 'Come Away With Me':

fun fact: Norah Jones went to UNT.
St. Vincent
I really get freaked out by St. Vincent. I saw her/them perform on SNL a few weeks ago and they were really good, but their performance was really weird. My mom said she didn't like her singing but she was a really good guitar player. She said the guitar saved the whole performance, and I agree.
Lana Del Rey
I know a lot of people say Lana Del Rey doesn't have a stage presence but I don't care because I love the way her voice sounds. I'm really looking forward to seeing her at ACL this year but it's going to be so crowded. It will be worth it though.

Trojan Live
Trojan Live was...... interesting.
I think there were some people who thought they were WAY better than I thought they were. But hey, good for them for having the balls to get on a stage in front of a bunch of high schoolers. I know I wouldn't.
One of the people who I thought did the best was the choir girl Rosie, I think that is her name. She was in choir last year with my brother and he says she's really good and nice. I thought she was awesome, even though her band wasn't as on point as she was.
Olivia and Adrien were AWESOME. omg, im so proud of them. Since Olivia and Adrien are my step siblings I would sometimes hear them singing, but it was muffled. When I saw them on stage my jaw dropped. Their harmonies were perfect and Olivia did so well! I didn't realize she could sing that well!
Also, I know you may be shocked, I thought Connor's band was really good. They aren't my favorite flavor of music, but they had their shit together and sounded like a professional band. Kudos to you my friend.
So Trojan live had some other great parts. The kids running on stage and trying to do some kind of mosh pit will definitely be a highlight remembered by many staff members and students. But one serious moment I will remember was everyone clapping and cheering on the girl who couldn't find the right chords. I'm glad she stayed on stage and didn't just give up, i'm also surprised at our schools support. I don't know if everyone was feeling guilty after the whole Yik-Yak ordeal or what, but I was really proud of us for not just sitting in awkward silence or laughing when she messed up.

Feist
To me Feist and cat Power are really similar. I like Feist a little more though because her songs are a bit more upbeat and I also just like her voice more in general.
My favorite song from her album 'Let It Die' is Inside and Out
Favorite from 'The Reminder' is 'The Water'
'The Reminder' is also the perfect album to listen to when it's raining and you want to relax and fall asleep. It's really calming.

Iggy Azalea
Iggy's latest hit 'Fancy' is all i've been listening to. I'm obsessed with her. She moved to America from Australia when she was 16 to pursue her rapping career. Fancy's music video is based off of one of my favorite movies 'Clueless'.
Eminem
When we were watching the documentary about rap this week and Eminem came onto the screen all i could think was 'WTF he's 41'.
Lately my brother has been getting really into Eminem and so i've been hearing a lot of his songs around the house. I liked a lot of his early stuff and his really recent stuff.

Michael Jackson
It's hard to believe the transformation Michael Jackson went through, but I guess that's what happens when you become famous at such an early age. I really like his early songs and videos but as he grew up i think his songs didn't improve. It was weird seeing how he looked in pictures and how his voice sounded. Its hard to think that voice could come out of that mouth.
Simon and Garfunkel
I read a book a little while ago and it was super weird, but it did bring up Simon and Garfunkel. I was curious so I looked them up and remembered my mom used to play them around our old house. I pretty much love every song because they sound super awesome together but my favorite is probably Cecilia.
Elvis Costello
So I heard you mention that we had listened to some of Elvis Costello's music and the name sounded really familiar. When I got home I looked up his songs and didn't recognize any of them and I just remembered my mom has one of his CD's in our CD rack. But I did YouTube some of his songs and the first one I clicked on was "Pump It Up". It freaked me out because I wasn't looking at the screen when the song started and I thought it was Lenny Kravitz and that i had clicked on the wrong video. Turns out they just sound a lot alike.

Little Sister - Queens of the Stone Age
This was the first Queens of the Stone Age song I ever heard. I definitely listened to it on repeat for like 3 weeks in 7th grade. I kind of forgot about them until i heard them on 101X one day and then I started listening to them again. Little Sister is still my favorite song. I remember hearing them at ACL this past year and they were sooo good. They sounded just like they do recorded.
Snobs
I'm getting tired of how judgmental everyone (specifically the people in the first row to the left) is about other people's music. Like I don't give a fuck if you don't like my music i'm not playing it for you and I don't need any comments on how it annoys you. I totally understand not liking Christian's music, it's ridiculous, but to write a post about how everyone's music was shit and bashing Christian is stupid. Someone's music shouldn't piss you off that much. Then again it is History of Rock and Roll, so i understand having an opinion on people's music but to let it make you that upset is ridiculous. Everyone has different taste's and to say it was shit is rude.

The Ruler - Kreayshawn
I know i'm probably one of the only people who like Kreayshawn, she's an acquired taste. She's a female rapper who is pretty monotone. I like the beats of her songs, and i actually like how monotone she is.
Elephant - Tame Impala
After I got the screen fixed on my phone the headphone plug wasn't working and neither was the auxiliary cord in my car, and I NEVER listen to the radio but I was forced to for about a week. When I listen to the radio I only listen to 101X. When they aren't playing commercials about the yellow rose's steak special they play some really awesome music. The only bad thing is they play the same songs a lot, and have recently thrown some Macklemore into the playlist. He has a good message, but awful music.
Anyway one day when I was listening to 101X this song came on and it sounded a LOT like The Beatles and I really liked it so I downloaded it right when I got home. I've been listening to it quite a bit and I still really like it. When I had to play my songs for the class I kind of figured the whole class would like it.
I haven't listened to the rest of Tame Impala's songs but I will, I'll let you know how the rest of them are.

I Wanna Be Yours - Arctic Monkeys
So I know I've already made a post about the Arctic Monkeys but I've found a new love for their album AM. I didn't really appreciate the album when I posted about it the first time. Lately it's all I've been listening too. My mom's getting sick of me playing it in the car, but that's what she gets when she doesn't let me drive my car to my lacrosse games without her. I love how he lists all of the things he would be for her and how he says 'Pacific Ocean'. I had heard a few of their songs from their album 'Humbug' because Adrien was pretty into them. The song I really like was 'Crying Lightning' because of how cool the guitar sounded.

The Roots
So I didn't realize The Roots were an actual band, I thought they were just Jimmy Fallon's little side band. I love how every time Jimmy Fallon says something stupid they give him the look. I'm glad you started talking about them because they are pretty good. I like the drums in their songs, and the sound of the singers voice. The lyrics are cool too.
Pretty Hurts - Beyonce
I like this song a lot because it talks about the definition of pretty in America. She sings about her childhood, when she was in pageants and how she felt during them. 'Perfection is a disease of a nation' is a really powerful lyric in this song. The song is really relevant to teenage girls in america. Beyonce is trying to tell girls that it's the stigma of perfection that's wrong not how you look.
Carry on - Crosby, Stills and Nash
I really love the harmonies in this song. The harmonies remind me of the Beatles a little bit. The guitar is also pretty awesome. I noticed there aren't that many instruments in the beginning of the song and it's just the voices. Then half way through the song it has kind of a latin sound.
Into the Ocean by Blue October
Usually i'm not into Blue October because I think the lead singers voice can get annoying. But this song is really good. It's relaxing and sad. I don't know how else to describe it. I like all the different instruments in it as well.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
I actually just downloaded the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 'Greatest Hits' album like a week before we talked about them in class. Some of their songs I get really into and others I can live without.
I don't understand why people are making such a big deal about them not performing 100% live. First of all it's just the Superbowl, that probably isn't the highlight of their career. If I was a singer I think performing at the Superbowl would be fun but it wouldn't be the peak of my career, I would hope something like ACL would have more of an impact. Second, they've probably played that song thousands of times and they thought 'what could happen if we didn't play the guitars live this time?'. I think people are overreacting big time, cut them some slack they've been around for 30 years.

About You XXYYXX
A girl danced to this song at the winter dance show and she was amazing. The song changes thoughout the 3 minutes it plays. There are a bunch of different noises put into it, and it only has like 5 words throughout it.

About You XXYYXX
Let it be
Over the break my friend and I went to Port Aransas for Christmas and we watched across the universe every night we were there. It has a lot of the songs we listened to in class in it. My favortie song off the album is 'Don't Let Me Down'.
